About

Sartoria Robu is the bespoke tailoring house of Daniel Robu in Turin, inside the Complesso 151 on Via Sandro Botticelli. Born in Romania, he took up the trade as a boy, worked in Bucharest tailoring workshops and ran his own shop in his home village before coming to Turin in 1999, where he learnt in the city's workrooms under older tailors. He set up on his own in 2004, and in 2009 bought Sartoria Sir George, the Turin house where he had first asked for work. He has been the Accademia Nazionale dei Sartori's regional delegate for Piedmont since 2013 and sits on the board of the World Federation of Master Tailors; Vlăduţ Mihail Motău, who trained in the workroom, won the Forbici d'Oro in 2021. Suits, jackets, trousers, coats, and wedding and ceremony suits are made for each client from more than 30 measurements, with handwork such as hand-sewn buttonholes and fittings during the making. The house also replicates a favourite suit, jacket or coat on a new pattern cut to the client's measurements. Open Monday to Friday 8am–12:30pm and 3–7pm, Saturday 8am–12pm; book by phone, email or the form on the website.
