Matthew Gonzalez

Matthew Gonzalez is the first American-born tailor to serve clients on Savile Row under his own name. Raised in Southern California, he moved to London in 2007 to study bespoke tailoring at the London College of Fashion, apprenticed seven and a half years under Thom Sweeney's head cutter, cut patterns for Alfred Dunhill's bespoke team, and spent four years cutting at Huntsman before opening his own house in 2020. The style is Anglo-American — mid-century American ease over British bespoke bones: a natural shoulder, a lighter canvassed chest, mostly single-breasted three-roll-two. Bespoke and handmade-to-measure, cut and made by hand in London, from a showroom in St James's.
