About

Koji Endo Bottier is the bespoke shoemaking workshop of Koji Endo (遠藤光志) in Honjo, Sumida, Tokyo. Born in Sendai in 1979, he became a shoe-repair craftsman in Tokyo at 23, then learnt handmade shoemaking at a shoe school in Asakusa and bottoming under the French shoemaker Anthony Delos. In 2012 he opened gentilie, a repair and bespoke shop in Fudomae, Meguro, and in 2018 moved to Honjo to open Koji Endo Bottier, devoted to bespoke. Each last is carved for the client from measurements and a hands-on reading of the foot; shoes are hand-sewn welted, with a trial pair worn for about two weeks before the final pair is made, and a first order takes about twelve months. Bespoke starts from ¥365,000 including tax for a first pair (with the last) and ¥315,000 after that; made-to-order on a house last, with a fitting shoe, starts from ¥275,000 in about six months. By appointment only: call or email before visiting. Closed Wednesdays.
