Kamakura Shirts
Kamakura, Japan·Shirts, Ties, Accessories·From $110
About
Kamakura Shirts was founded in 1993 by Yoshio Sadasue and his wife Tamiko in Kamakura, inspired by VAN Jacket's Kensuke Ishizu; their daughter Nanako now leads the company. The shirts are made in Japan at every stage — fabrics woven from 80-two-ply yarn or finer, natural shell buttons, 21 stitches to 3cm, flat-felled seams — at prices that undercut most of the field, from about $110. Alongside ready-to-wear, a made-to-measure service travels to trunk shows; there are stores across Japan, in Shanghai, and a New York order salon.
