About
HAN SHOEMAKER is the shoe brand of Han, a Korean-born shoemaker (born on Jeju in 1984) who came to Tokyo in 2008 to study shoe design at Bunka Fashion College. He learnt hand-welting from the veteran Asakusa shoemaker Nobuyoshi Seki, worked as a bottom-maker at an Asakusa factory, and went independent in 2016, hand-welting shoes for bespoke makers as an outworker. In 2020 he launched HAN: classic English-style dress shoes, Goodyear-welted on machines he runs himself and finished by hand, made to order after fitting size-gauge shoes, with uppers chosen from leathers such as Weinheimer and Annonay. In 2022 he moved from Asakusa to a glass-fronted workshop and shop in Kofu, Yamanashi. Orders are taken there or at trunk shows in Japan and abroad; ask about opening hours by Instagram DM.
