About
Edward Green established his workshop in Northampton in 1890 with the promise of “excellence without compromise”, and the name soon became shorthand for the finest English Goodyear-welted shoes — worn by Ernest Hemingway and the Duke of Windsor among others. The house is still based in Northampton, where over sixty artisans cut each pair by hand from the world's finest leathers. Alongside the ready-to-wear range, a custom-made service allows a client's own choice of last, leather, sole and detailing. The flagship store faces Beau Brummell's statue at 75 Jermyn Street, with a second shop on the boulevard Saint-Germain in Paris, and the house tours its stockists for trunk shows with a full fitting range.
