Common Suits

Common Suits is the Singapore bespoke tailoring house Javin Tan founded in 2014: two weeks after his final exams at the National University of Singapore, where he studied business, he rented a booth outside a campus canteen to sell his first suits. Every suit now starts from a paper pattern drafted in-house and is basted, fitted and made in the workshop inside the Telok Ayer Street atelier, on a lightweight canvas developed for Southeast Asia's climate. The house cut has extended shoulders, a defined waist and sharp, masculine proportions. A suit takes 50 to 60 hours over four to five fittings and is usually ready in about eight weeks. In October 2026 Tan won the Milano su Misura – Trofeo Arbiter in Naples, the first non-Italian to take the prize. Common Suits also has ateliers in Manila, Jakarta and Bangkok. By appointment only.
