Cohérence
Tokyo, Japan·Coats, Outerwear
About
Cohérence is a Japanese outerwear house founded by Kentaro Nakagomi in 2015. Each coat is drawn from a portrait of a twentieth-century figure — the CORB from Le Corbusier, the AL II from Albert Camus's 1950s trench — then rebuilt with fabrics Nakagomi develops himself and details the originals never had. Nakagomi studied textiles, design, and pattern cutting before spending years designing for a European house and managing its production, and he learned to sew and cut under a tailor trained in Italy. Everything is made in Japan, at a factory that has produced outerwear for more than fifty years.
