Kazuo Ishikawa
Tokyo, Japan·Suits, Jackets, Trousers
About
Kazuo Ishikawa is a bespoke tailor in Tokyo who takes measurements and fittings in Minami-Aoyama and works largely by word of mouth. He belongs to the circle around Kenji Kaga, the Japanese founder of the Florentine tie house Atto Vannucci, who sends clients his way; the former Japan footballer Ryuji Bando, introduced by Kaga, has had full-bespoke white trousers and a jacket made by him — each about six months with a basted fitting — and notes that Ishikawa trained under the veteran tailor who still alters Bando's own suits for Dunhill. Ishikawa posts sparingly: a Loro Piana Dream Tweed jacket, a cotton jacket photographed at Pitti Uomo, clients in his coats. He keeps no website and his bio reads simply 'bespoke tailor Tokyo'. Enquiries by Instagram message, in Japanese.
