About
Jan P. Myhre is a bespoke shoe and bootmaker in Oslo, in the trade since 1981 and under his own name since 1993. His work follows the British classic tradition he absorbed as a trainee at John Lobb Ltd in St James's from 1987, and he commands every discipline himself: hand-carving a pair of lasts for each new client from an outline of their feet, drawing the patterns, clicking, closing and making — oxfords, derbies, loafers and boots, all hand-welted. His working philosophy is "set your feet free": a shoe shaped to the individual foot rather than to a standard length. He also teaches one-to-one last-making and shoemaking courses in Oslo.
