About

Homer Montecito (Homer Maker) makes bespoke leather goods in the tradition of American saddlery: totes and carryalls, saddle and bucket bags, the Vintners Club wine carries, belts, wallets and small accessories, cut from vegetable-tanned full-grain leathers such as Hermann Oak from St. Louis and Tuscan hides, and built to take on a patina with age. It was founded by Terry Pillow, the former CEO of Tommy Bahama (earlier Coach, Armani Exchange and Chaps Ralph Lauren) and named for his grandfather Homer Jackson Pillow, an Arkansas mail carrier who made his own harness and bridles. Steven Soria, a third-generation leather artisan who built the first prototypes in his Santa Barbara atelier, became co-owner in 2024. Pieces are made on California's Central Coast and sold from a small shop at 1129 Coast Village Road in Montecito — Wednesday to Saturday, 11am–5:30pm, or by appointment — where custom bags can also be ordered. Small leather goods from $185, belts $265, bags from about $950 to $3,200.
